PRESENTER(S)

Nagesh Goel: Mechanical Engineer with specialization in Nondestructive Testing and Metallurgical Failure Analysis. He has 20+ years’ experience in inspection and supervision of static and dynamic loaded Steel Structures, Pressure Piping, Pressure Vessels, Tanks and Mechanical Systems. Inspection experience has been accumulated in various industry segments such as Structural Steel Construction (Buildings and Bridges), Petrochemical and Power. Administered extensive training programs in Welding, Non-Destructive Testing, Metallurgy, and Fire Code. Knowledgeable about a variety of materials, product forms, processes, inspection techniques, and test methods.

LEARNING OBJECTIVE

Students will gain the following skills during this course:

  1. Define ultrasonic testing, understand its applications and limitations in detecting discontinuities in metals, non-metals and composites.
  2. Know how to determine velocity, frequency, wavelength, attenuation, impedance, reflection, refraction and mode conversion of acoustic waves.
  3. Calculate the critical angle of longitudinal and refracted sound waves in different mediums using Snell’S Law.
  4. Set-up and Calibrate equipment for testing using Longitudinal and Shear wave transducers.
  5. Perform Straight Beam and Angle Beam examination of materials based on specific written instructions.

TOPICAL COURSE OUTLINE

Ultrasonic Testing requires a thorough understanding of the mathematical and physical principles of ultrasonic waves and its travel through various mediums. The course presents this information in the simplest manner for long term retention in this rapidly evolving field. Candidates are taught calibrations and provided specific procedures for practice during the course.

TRANSFER POLICY

If a student is unable to attend a course, they may request to transfer to another date and/or location. Once a student elects to transfer, they are no longer eligible for a refund and must apply their tuition to a course that falls within one year of the original course date. Written notice is required and a $50 administration fee will apply per transfer. In order to transfer to another class, INDT must be given at least 10 business days notice of the transfer. Notifications of less than 10 business days will be subjected to INDT’s cancellation policy in addition to the $50 administrative fee.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Courses are subject to minimum enrollments. If the minimum numbers of enrollments are not met, INDT reserves the right to cancel the session and offer you a full refund or transfer to another date and/or location.

We must receive written notification of cancellation ten business days or more prior to the first day of the course for a full refund. If a student reschedules or cancels a program six to nine business days before the class start date, only 75% of the course registration fee will be refunded.
